Many homes in Palm Springs and throughout the Coachella Valley have a cool, mid-century modern vibe. Homeowners here have many options on where to shop to furnish their homes with beautiful, mid-century furnishings, artwork, and accessories of the period. Here are a just a few of our favorite spots to explore on your next shopping excursion:
Antique Galleries of Palm Springs
Antique Galleries of Palm Springs offers more than 12,000 square feet of antique, vintage, and retro finds. It has a little bit of everything for your home, from artwork, furniture, barware, clocks and collectibles, decorative items, kitchen and tableware, lamps and lighting, and more. The gallery is located just south of downtown with free parking nearby. You can buy in-store, at curbside or online, and worldwide shipping is available.
Flow Modern presents a carefully-curated selection of fine vintage furniture and accessories, concentrating on the high-end, mid-century modern Palm Springs aesthetic. Favorite offerings are Milo Baughman, Mastercraft, Karl Springer, Steven Chase, Arthur Elrod, Pace, Murano and Scandinavian Glass and Rosenthal Studio Pieces. The gallery also features revolving art exhibits representing the work of a talented group of painters, photographers and sculptors. It also has a nice selection of vintage jewelry and fine artisan silver and brass pieces.

The Shops at Thirteen Forty Five
The Shops at 1345 offers a treasure trove of classic Palm Springs mid-century modern style. It’s a collective of unique, luxurious shops, all housed in an iconic E. Stewart Williams-designed building. These independent boutiques offer something for every palette, including pottery, textiles, vintage furniture, art, clothing, and accessories. Regarding the building itself, real estate developer and a Palm Springs founding-father Harold Hicks commissioned E. Stewart Williams to design this beautiful structure as the Harold Hicks Real Estate and Insurance building in 1955.

HEDGE is a store and gallery with a refreshing bohemian flair. Located in the Perez Road Art & Design District https://www.discovercathedralcity.com/organizer/perez-road-art-design-district-2/ enclave of stores in Cathedral City, HEDGE offers an ever-changing collection of vintage modern furnishings and decorative arts. According to its website, its owners have “a passion for finding art and objects that are unusual, dynamic and unpredictable. In a world where things are much too serious, HEDGE is refreshing.”

From furniture – both indoors and outdoors – to various styles of vintage lighting, decor and artwork, there is much to take in and take home. Spaces features vintage mid-century furnishings and decor as well as other unique decorative items. Whatever your taste, its website says shoppers “are sure to find something that piques your interest.” The store also accepts items on consignment for resale.

Palm Springs Vintage Market – Outdoor market
Check out the Palm Springs Vintage Market for a great collection of vintage furniture, clothing, decor and other collectibles with amazing mountain views in Central Palm Springs. It is held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first Sunday of the month from October to May. However, there is a special, bonus Vintage Market this month on February 20th to coincide with Modernism Week. First Choice Entry is $10 from 7 to 8 a.m. and General Entry from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $5. Well-behaved and trained dogs on a leash are welcome.
